2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) Contenders
$2 million, 2yo, c&g, 1 1/16 miles (dirt)

Four Grade 1-winning two-year-olds will lock horns in this year's edition of the Juvenile including the mild morning line favorite Circular Quay, Scat Daddy, King of the Roxy and Great Hunter.  The first three have similar top end PFs although Scat Daddy has a big edge in last race PF and he comes in off an excellent win in the best two-year-old race of the year so far, the Champagne Stakes on October 14.  Scat Daddy has an ideal, tactical running style for a race where several highly regarded starters prefer to set the pace.  Circular Quay comes from farther back, which could work to his advantage as well, and he has the additional benefit of two wins at Churchill Downs.  None of the others have won there.  Principle Secret is well thought of, but he and Pegasus Wind seem a bit too intent on going to the front and might prefer a shorter distance at the Grade 1 level at this point in their career.  Stormello has a solid win at the distance in the Grade 2 Norfolk Stakes where his Beyer Speed Figure was outstanding, although it doesn't match up well with his PF which uses pace as a factor.  Stormello also prefers to race on or very close to the lead.  Because of his class, competitive speed figures and affinity for the Churchill Downs surface, the narrow choice here is Circular Quay.
