2006 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) Contenders

The BC Sprint is about speed and the fastest horses by PF are Bordonaro, War Front and Friendly Island followed closely by Too Much Bling and Henny Hughes.  Grade 1 winner Bordonaro is outstanding at the distance with seven for 10 and he boasts three wins in 1:08 or less.  He likes the lead but can win when pressing a quick pace.  War Front is another consistent and versatile winner with victories around one and two turns.  Whether he can punch through at six furlongs off a very fast pace with his front-running or pace-pressing style is a question.  Friendly Island can be as good as any in the field; however; his recent form is off and parallels a puzzling change in racing style.  Too Much Bling has never won a Grade 1 and hasn't raced since mid-July, although he has won impressively after layoffs.  Significantlly, he is two for two at the BC Sprint distance.  Henny Hughes is improving by leaps and bounds, is three for three at the distance and has two wins in 1:08 flat.  He has an excellent chance because his class is unquestionable and he continues to mature with each race.  That could be enough in a tough and very quick field.
